The name
A burl is the most beautiful wood a tree will ever make. A beam is the part you trust with the roof.
Burls form where a tree has been injured — a wound, an infection, a hard winter. The grain grows back in on itself, dense and swirling and impossible to predict. No two are alike and none can be ordered. You find them, or you do not.
Beams are the opposite discipline. Straight, quiet, sized for load, and judged entirely by whether they are still holding a century from now.
Everything here is built to be both. Figured, rare, and worth looking at across a room — and joined well enough that your grandchildren will argue about who gets it.

An ocean with a
provenance.
The blue-gray resin running through this table is pigmented with coal legally recovered from the engine-room bunkers of RMS Titanic, two and a half miles down.
The coal is milled, blended into the resin, and poured as a single channel through a book-matched maple burl top. A craggy dot of opaque white sits at the leading edge. Below, one drawer opens on a brass pull. The legs are cast and brass-tinted, sculpted as a pair of opposing engine-room pistons. A brass plate set into the back apron records what the piece is made of.

Something that
fell from the moon.
Maple burl bonded with white resin, pigmented with a lunar meteorite ground to powder.
Lunar meteorites are fragments of the Moon’s crust, thrown off by impact and later recovered on Earth. Rather less of the material exists than most people assume. Milled into white resin, it flows through the voids of the burl and sets as a bright mineral seam against honey-colored wood.

How it is built
No fastener you can find.
Three rules govern every piece that leaves the shop. They are not style choices. They are the reason these things last.

Nothing mechanical shows
Screws, brackets, plates and hardware are hidden inside the joinery or not used at all. Run your hand over any surface and you will find wood, resin, or brass that was put there to be seen — and nothing else. Where a fastener is structurally necessary, it is buried and capped with material cut from the same board.

The wood is chosen before the design
Oak, walnut and maple are the foundation, with dense exotic species where a piece calls for them. Boards are selected first and drawn around, never the reverse. A burl that will not make a good top is not forced into being one.

The resin is structural, not decorative
Epoxy fills the voids a burl always has, stabilizes what would otherwise move, and locks the whole panel into one continuous body. Pigment is what makes it beautiful. Chemistry is what makes it hold.
